What is a health school dinner?

Jamie Oliver School Dinners - you might have seen the ads for the program on TV. This article says that lots of schools have asked for the recipes but they won't be able to get them unless someone sponsers the project to the tune of £200,000.

Well to be honest there is a cheaper way. The recipes are all done and photos taken. This could all be used on a web site. Put together with minimal cost as not all webdesigners work for £1000s! All the ongoing costs would be would be hosting and bandwidth, which for cheapness could be hosted outside the UK. UK servers are notoriously expensive.
Then everyone: schools, parents, people who look after children could all access these healthy eating plans. All schools have internet access after all! and so do public libraries.

Tony Blair is now in on the health school dinners - Blair acts on Jamie's plan for schools (Observer/guardina prob have to register to see this) - BUT he's going to be using the money he set aside for improving school buildings, increassing computer equipment etc.

"Promising that kitchens and dining areas would be improved as part of the £9.4 billion primary school building programme announced in last week's Budget, he added: 'It may take a little time to change children's tastes but it will be worth the effort if we can get them enjoying healthy and good quality food at school.'"

I'm pleased something is to be done, but am sorry it doesn't warrant separate money!

Govt announces £280 million for better food story - sounds loads. However its only 10p extra for primary school meals and 20p for secondary school. A lot of money is being used to set up an advisory service.

The amounts spent per meal on school dinners are apparently half that spent on prison meals.
